Accomplishments by Ursinus College faculty members are noted regularly in “Faculty Good News.” Assistant Professor of History Susanna Throop was featured in an article, and Gabrielle Principe, Associate Professor of Psychology, has published a book.
Susanna Throop (History) was featured in an article in the fall 2011 issue of Ezra, Cornell University’s magazine. The article, “Alum’s collaboration with professor results in book on medieval vengeance,” discusses Throop’s work with Cornell University Professor Paul Hyams in their co-edited book Vengeance in the Middle Ages: Emotion, Religion and Feud (Ashgate 2010). The article can also be accessed online: http://ezramagazine.cornell.edu/FALL11/CornellBooks1.html.
Gabrielle Principe (Psychology) has a new book out, “Your Brain on Childhood: The Unexpected Side Effects of Classroom, Ballparks, Family Rooms and the Minivan,” published by Prometheus books. One reviewer, Laurence Steinberg, Distinguished University Professor of Psychology at Temple University, wrote: “With her dry wit and good common sense, Principe explains how the new science of brain development undercuts the claims of those who believe that children need extraordinary, and extraordinarily early, stimulation to develop the skills they will need to succeed in school and in life. . . . I recommend it highly.”
