Review of ‘Distaff Toolkit’ Speaks to Women’s Work

Esteemed art critic Edward J. Sozanski reviews “Reimagining the Distaff Toolkit,” at the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art in the Feb. 19 Philadelphia Inquirer. He notes how the artists in the show use domestic items either in a “pure aesthetic state, as recontextualized ‘readymades,’ or incorporated into mixed media works.” Curator and historian RickieSolinger, who, according tothe article, “seeks to illuminate the world of domestic labor,” offers a curatorial talk Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Museum.
