Outstanding Teaching Award to Dr. Jennifer Van Gilder

Assistant Professor of Business and Economics Jennifer Van Gilder was the recipient of the Lindbach Award for Outsanding Teaching at the 2012 Ursinus commencement ceremony. Her students praised her teaching in their nominations.l One said, “She made me feel like there was no challenge I couldn’t face.”

Van Gilder is known for her research into the relationship between physique in athletes, such as facil symmetry, and salary, and similar analysis with prison inmates. She teaches Business Statistics, Managerial Economics, Labor Economics, and Race and Gender in the American Economy.  Dr VanGilder received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and one in Economics from Bethany College in West Virginia, a master’s degree in Economics, and Ph.D. in Economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton. She also is currently involved in research of faculty perceptions and decision analysis with respect to their current and future positions.
