Ursinus College welcomes West Chester, Pa. attorney Alan P. Novak, a 1971 graduate of the College, as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees.

Novak, who has been an Ursinus Trustee, is President and Founder of Novak Strategic Advisors, a public and government affairs firm based in Harrisburg, Pa. His work on behalf of clients has led to legislation and state regulatory changes in the areas of gaming, the environment, taxes and state regulated alcohol sales.
Of counsel to Conrad O’Brien in West Chester, Pa., Novak practices in municipal law and land use law as well as civil litigation. Known for his legal expertise in local government, he served as solicitor for several municipal authorities, local governments and local government entities.
He was the longest serving Chairman of Pennsylvania’s Republican Party (1996-2005) and was regularly recognized on www.PoliticsPA.com’s “Power 50 List” as one of the 50 most politically powerful Pennsylvanians. He served on the President’s Advisory Committee for White House Fellows, worked with the Gov. Corbett transition team, and serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Chester County Economic Development Council and several community non-profit boards.
Novak is regularly sought by news media to comment on the political process, and his expertise has been noted in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post, as well as on CNN, Fox, ABC, MSNBC, PBS and on radio. He is half of a team that provides political commentary on the Pennsylvania Commonwealth
Network during election seasons.
