Article Co-authored With Recent Graduate

An article written by Gabrielle Principe, Psychology Department, was published in Developmental Review. The article, titled “How natural conversations with peers and parents can engender false memories in children,” was co-authored by Erica Schindewolf, Class of 2012, a psychology and biology major.The abstract explains that “research on factors that can affect the accuracy of children’s autobiographical remembering has important implications for understanding the abilities of young witnesses to provide legal testimony.” In the article, the authors review their own recent research on one factor that has much potential to induce errors in children’s event recall, namely natural memory sharing conversations with peers and parents. The article is part of a special issue of Developmental Review focusing on recent advances in developmental forensic psychology.
