Student Cited at Gender & Women’s Studies Conference

Recent graduate Ellyn Rolleston, majoring in French and English,  received first place for her essay, À la recherche de la belle fidèle: Translation Theory and The Second Sex” at the Geis conference, an undergraduate and graduate conference on Gender and Women Studies, April 28 at the University of Delaware. Her paper was a result of her 2011 Summer Fellows Project under faculty mentor Professor Meredith Goldsmith, English. She then expanded this research for an independent capstone project, a 30-page paper, Le Souffle et le sang: Hélène Cixous, l’écriture féminine, et la  deuxième vague du féminisme après Simone de Beauvoir, which she  presented at the Celebration of Student Achievement at Ursinus under the mentorship of Professor of Modern Languages Colette Trout. She was also inducted into the national Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.
