U.S. News Notes Ursinus Creative Writing Scholarship

The Ursinus Creative Writing Scholarship is one of four quirky scholarships listed in US News’ College Compass, an online companion to U.S. News’ Best Colleges. Among unusual competitive awards, the Ursinus award is noteworthy: “If you’re serious about writing, this unusual scholarship  could be the ticket to a bright future.” The Creative Writing Award, which was featured on the front page of the New York Times in 2011, allows the winner to live in the Curtis Hall room J.D. Salinger had as an Ursinus student in 1938. English Professor Jon Volkmer, who helped create the scholarship,  selects the winner each spring based on submitted writing.
