The Ursinus College Jazz Ensemble will present a concert on Friday, October 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center’s Lenfest Theater. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
Conducted by Benjamin Britton, Adjunct Instructor in the Music Department, the Jazz Ensemble will perform classic and modern jazz pieces from various composers, including quite a few arrangements of the music of jazz trumpet legend Miles Davis, and an arrangement of one of Britton’s compositions for sax quintet and rhythm section. The high-energy program will also feature many soloists.
Earlier this year, Britton was named the first winner of the Charlie Parker Cutting Contest, a music competition sponsored by 12th Street Jump, a weekly jazz, blues and comedy program on National Public Radio.
