Molly Devinney was hired by a Philadelphia nonprofit, the Lower Moyamensing Civic Association (LoMo), to design, implement and promote a student-led garden program with corresponding education and community programs at South Philadelphia High School (SPHS). South Philadelphia is known for sports teams and Mummers, but definitely not sustainable green space. A local civic association, public high school, and enthusiastic community are ready to change that with the South Philadelphia High School Greening Plan. “The critical-thinking and decision-making skills I cultivated at Ursinus helped me build an authentic program that works for this school, its students, and the neighborhood,” says Devinney. Read more about Devinney in the upcoming spring 2013 issue of Ursinus Magazine.
