Berman’s Accessibility Practices Featured at Conference

Susan Shifrin, Associate Director for Education at the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art, will speak on best practices in museum accessibility at  the PA Museums Annual Statewide Museums Conference in April in Doylestown, Pa. The theme is Authenticity and Relevance. The session will address “how the Berman Museum of Art developed an accessible exhibition of art from their collection for enjoyment by blind and visually impaired patrons, groups of elderly visitors with Alzheimers, and visitors who use wheelchairs. This session will also review Disability Awareness Training Days, hosted by the Berman Museum of Art with educators from Art Beyond Sight as well as from ARTZ, a community inclusion program with people with dementia.”

PA Museums represents the interests of the over 1,000 museums and related organizations throughout the Commonwealth. PA Museums increases public awareness of the essential roles of museums to enhance the quality of life for Pennsylvania residents and to attract visitors.
