Victim Services Center Gives Ursinus Leadership Award

Ursinus College received the Leadership Award from the Montgomery County Victim Services Center (VSC) on March 24 in recognition of support received from Ursinus students, who have been a community partner to VSC for many years.

Eilish Bennett 2014 and Heather McMasters 2014 accepted the award on behalf of the College. Paulette Patton, Director of Multicultural Services, has been a longstanding Board member of the Victim Services Center.

VSC is a non-profit organization that provides free and confidential support services to victims of sexual assault or child abuse, homicide victims’ families, and survivors of other personal-injury crime. VSC has presented programs at Ursinus for Freshman Orientation, resident advisor training and peer advocate training. Ursinus students participated in VSC’s promotional video and, in 2012, selected the organization as the recipient of funds raised through Airband, which is a song, dance and comedy competition that has raised money for local charities since its inception in 1982.

This year’s Airband will be held on April 6.
