Sen. Rafferty and Rep. Vereb Host Town Hall Meeting

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to come meet State Senator John C. Rafferty Jr. and Rep. Mike Vereb at a town hall meeting on Oct. 28 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Bears’ Den.

The two legislators will discuss the roles they play in enacting new legislation, current issues and pending legislation in Pennsylvania, and the current focus of the state. Topics may include transportation funding, education, liquor-store privatization, pension reform and the state budget. There will be a question & answer period for students, faculty and staff.

Sen. Rafferty represents the residents of Pennsylvania’s 44th Senatorial District, which includes parts of Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties. He was re-elected for a third term with the Senate in November 2010. A former state deputy attorney general, he has a background in public service and local government.

Rep. Vereb is serving his fourth term representing the 150th Legislative District in Montgomery County, and is serving as the House Majority Secretary for the second consecutive term. He has 20 years of combined law enforcement and corporate security experience, including with the West Conshohocken Police Department, and corporate security work.
