Biochemistry Students Help Brownie Troop Learn About Science

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BCMB) students recently volunteered their time to help some local Brownie Scouts earn their scientist badge.  The students are all members of the Ursinus Undergraduate Affiliate Network of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).

The Ursinus chapter was started in 2012 and continues to provide students with financial and networking opportunities.  Educational outreach is part of the Ursinus chapter’s charter.  The students worked with Associate Professor, Rebecca Roberts (Biology/BCMB) to plan the event with the Brownie Troop.

Dr. Roberts’ daughter is one of the Brownies who participated in the two-hour event, which included discussions about science, the scientific method, and five fun hands-on experiments.
