Two Ursinus student a cappella groups turned 942 Main Street into a recording session for a weekend as they professionally recorded six songs during the spring semester. Their album, One Note Stand, includes six songs songs from the male Bearitones and female B’Naturals, and is now available for purchase on iTunes.
The recording session was the result of some leg work, says B’Naturals President Michelle Swenson. She said the group recorded one song several years ago, and has wanted to record again. “This year, we searched a cappella recording companies all over the country and engaged with a few to figure out the best deal. We eventually found Clear Harmonies Productions, which is based in Maryland, but we were able to bring their mobile recording equipment to us. We set up the equipment in 942 and completed the project over two days. . . We had two rooms set up with mics with a middle room as the control room where Charlie from Clear Harmonies used his computer to record the takes.”
Not only is the sound great, but “it was a great bonding day for the group,” says Swenson. “We woke up early to get started at 8 a.m. and when we weren’t in class, we hung out in a spare room in 942 with coffee, tea, and snacks.”
