Seniors Present at Art History Symposium

Seniors Ashlyn Ernst (Art History & History) and Kyra Tan-Tiongco (Art History & International Relations) presented research papers at the Central Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Art History Symposium at Juniata College April 5.

Ashlyn’s presentation was on “The Portraiture of Kehinde Wiley: Complicating Race and Power through Appropriation and Hip-Hop.” Kyra’s topic was “The Art of the Scrovegni Chapel and its Relation to the Politics in Late Medieval Italy.”

This was the first time Ursinus has participated in the Symposium, which also featured student researchers from Bucknell, Franklin & Marshall, Penn State, Gettysburg, Muhlenberg, Juniata, Lycoming, Lebanon Valley, and Bloomsburg.They were accompanied by faculty member Deborah Barkun.
