Dr. Amanda J. Reig (Chemistry) and three of her research students presented their latest results at the 247th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Dallas, Texas March 16-20.
Kristen Biernat 2014 (Chemistry) presented a poster titled “Creation and characterization of 4-His/3-carboxylate DFsc proteins”. Rachel Polinski 2014 (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) and Jenna Pellegrino 2017 (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) presented a poster titled “Creation of rubrerythrin and symerythrin model proteins”. The presentations summarized their work to develop peptide-based models in order to gain insight into the structure-function relationships in natural metalloenzymes. Polinski and Pellegrino were participants in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute-funded FUTURE program at Ursinus College in 2013, which helped support their research efforts and attendance at the meeting.
